Man Arrested Following Assault Of Cops On Long Island

A 24-year-old man was arrested after becoming combative with Nassau County Police, injuring six officers.

Darius Johnson, address unknown, was arrested around 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, in Mineola, after Nassau County Police responded to a call of a suspicious male that was looking into multiple car windows at a Walgreens parking lot located at 12 East Jericho Turnpike, police said.

When police arrived on the scene, they found Johnson, who was unable to provide any identification, police said.

While speaking with him, Johnson allegedly became combative towards officers, spitting and flailing his arms and legs, injuring six officers in the process, police said.

Johnson and the six officers were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Johnson was charged with assault and obstructing governmental administration. He was held pending arraignment on Thursday, May 23.
